Day 69 or Spiral Art

This was taken on March 15th.

In the hospital (surprised?) there is this really huge art piece hanging from the cieling. This picture doesn’t do it’s size justice, but it’s pretty damn cool. This is what it looks like when you walk in the door and look straight up. That’s two stories up if that helps get across the size.

I had to film a scene for my acting class involving a bunch of detectives, so while I still had them all together I went ahead and got a “promotional still” that I Photoshopped into this ’70′s looking (hopefully) poster for a movie called Stake Out starring Daniel P. Ballard, Tim Kuhn & Alexandra Moore. You can see the scene, directed by me Daniel W. Ballard, at:Stake Out: The Movie .

This is Kathryn, my niece, and the bear that she sleeps with, that for some reason or another she like to have laying on top of her in such a way that it looks like he’s choking her. I thought it was hilarious and so used my phone to take this shot (thus the crap quality).

Day 66 or A View

This is the view out of a window of the top floor of University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. I’ve come to know the place well.

These are the mailboxes on the fifth floor of the hospital. Like I said, we’ve been spending a lot of time up there.

Day 64 or Finally

Final Fantasy XIII finally came out.

Day 63 or Glare

We’ve been at the hospital a lot. This is a view out of a second story window. I took this same shot from a few feet to my left so the glare wouldn’t show, but I like this one better. It does a better job of showing what it feels like to be at the hospital this long.

Taken on my cellphone, thus the grainy quality (though it kind of works).

Fact: This is a photo of Daniel Ballard by Daniel Ballard

Fact: This is not a self portrait

Fact: There are at least two dudes named Daniel Ballard

He asked me if I wanted the glasses on or off.

On Sunday the 6th my daughter Emma was put into the hospital. She was born with a birth defect that has resulted in her having much weaker lungs than the average child. She got a virus called human metapneumovirus, which is a slightly less severe version of RSV. Being that her lungs are already weaker, it’s hit her pretty hard. So it’s been a while since I’ve posted any pictures, but be assured I have taken a picture everyday and am catching up posting them.

Emma is doing better and will hopefully be home soon. When she does, be warned that I’m going to take a picture of her for each day she’s in the hospital so there shall be lots of Emma.

This picture here is of a dome mirror at the end of the hall we’ve walked down a million times to visit her in the NICU and now in the PICU.

In the long long ago, I was a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan (as were most young men born in the early ’80′s) and I collected the hell out of the toys. One of my favorites was this little guy, Triceraton (though that’s not actually his name, but his race) and I saw him tonight sitting in Emma’s room and figured I’d show some youngun’s what a real action figure looks like. If you’d like to learn more about the Triceraton you can go here: Triceraton!
